Description:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Maintain high quality outdoor soccer fields and facilities by providing overall direction and supervision of assigned staff. Actively participate in the planning and implementation of a master plan to meet the goals of the clubs membership and facility patrons.
  • Accountable for the upkeep of all building mechanical systems, preventative maintenance programs, daily housekeeping responsibilities and building appearance. Ensure all facilities are in good working condition to promote safety and patron satisfaction. 
  • Maintain accurate and up to date records regarding mechanical systems and equipment. Accountable for maintaining compliance with applicable state and federal regulations regarding pesticides, chemicals and other hazardous materials.
  • Required to work closely with the county, state and federal (DNR) authorities on current and future facility and land issues.
  • Responsible for personnel management issues regarding grounds and maintenance staff. Accountable for conducting annual reviews of subordinate personnel. Duties to include hiring, training and counseling. Accountable for preparing an annual budget and operating within approved budgetary constraints
  • Serve as member of the Uihlein Soccer Park / Milwaukee Kickers Soccer Club management team aimed at working cooperatively to meet the needs of the park and the club. Act as a liaison to specific committees as assigned by the Executive Director.
  • Administer USP policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. College degree – Horticulture, Turf/Field Management or combination of applicable experience preferred
  2. Minimum one year experience in turf grass management, preferably with soccer
  3. Minimum one year experience in managing and leading staff
  4. Ability to working in a team based environment providing service to several programs and individuals

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to operate an automobile and other machinery
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects 
  • Ability to work standing and walking for long periods of time
  • Ability to stoop and bend
  • Exposure to extreme weather conditions to include heat, cold and rain

MISC. REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to work excessive hours, including extensive nights and weekends (particularly during the outdoor / summer season)
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals
  • Ability to work independently and relatively unsupervised on multiple projects and assignments
