Hello! I’m Caleb Sells, and I am a Milwaukee Kickers Soccer Club Communications, Community Relations and Special Events Intern for the summer of 2018.
I have a strong background in soccer, starting from about five years old until age 18. While I no longer play soccer, I enjoy being involved in such a wonderful sport and helping others enjoy it as much as I do.
The beautiful thing about MKSC is the community aspect based on the club's mission to provide soccer to everyone no matter their size, shape, gender, race or socioeconomic status. It is this aspect that I look forward to continuing as an MKSC intern. I have a background as a volunteer EMT for my home town, and I look forward to being able to serve the community of Milwaukee.
I am also an adventurer and enjoy traveling to new places to experience new things. Recently, I was in Austria for a week attending an International Business Conference through Concordia University Wisconsin where I currently study business management and am a business scholar. While there, I was exposed to being abroad, traveling as a stranger, meeting new people and communicating with those who did not speak much English. These were wonderful experiences and I hope to have some more personal growth experiences of a different kind during my MKSC internship.
I connect this all to soccer because if I had never started out on the journey of playing I would not be where I am today. Playing soccer was the first leap and adventure for me when I was younger. It is the continuation of taking chances and trying new things that has helped me develop. The team aspect of soccer was also critical as it helped me learn how important it is to work as a team and recognize the goals of the team.
Regardless of if you play sports or not, the most important thing to remember is what drives you. I always push myself to do the things that I love and get motivation from. I am driven by the goals of MKSC and look forward to being part of such a passionate team this summer.
