Hi there! I’m Erika Morges and I am the MKSC accounting and special events intern this spring. As a soccer enthusiast, MKSC provides me with the opportunity to enhance my career goals in an atmosphere and industry in which I have a growing passion for, sports.
As a little girl, my dreams of what I would become were constantly changing from a doctor to a soccer coach to a detective, just to name a few. It wasn’t until I attended Marquette University that I realized my career had to include sports. For the first time in my life, I wasn’t playing soccer nor running on a competitive level. My playing days had come to an end, but this only allowed my love for sports to grow more. Sports were an essential part of my upbringing, they shaped me into the person I have become and taught me numerous lessons. I learned commitment, created a hard work ethic from playing, pushed myself past my limits, and made lifelong relationships.
Although my playing days are over, I still find the time to remain active. Whether it’s playing a pick-up game of soccer, going to the gym, kayaking, you name it! I’ve learned to try new things and find new passions, like traveling. I’ve traveled to seven countries, five of which I had the privilege of visiting last year during my semester abroad. Like soccer, traveling has taught me lessons as well. I’ve learned to adapt to different situations, push myself out of my comfort zone, and be grateful for the opportunities I’ve been given.
I believe passion takes you a long way in life. Whether it’s through sports or traveling, whatever it may be do it with passion. That being said, I’m proud to be a part of an organization that encourages young people to remain active and find their own passion.
