This fall I had the opportunity to work for the Milwaukee Kickers Soccer Club as a Finance/Accounting intern. Throughout the internship, I learned many valuable skills that I will keep with me as I move on to other job opportunities.
As a Finance/Accounting intern, my primary duties were to code transactions, enter cash receipts and account payables. I could always expect to do something new whether working in accounting or assisting during special events. This was one of the best parts of the job because I enjoyed going to the office and knowing that the day would be a new opportunity to learn.
The best part of the internship was working during tournaments hosted at Uihlein Soccer Park. I worked several different positions such as parking attendant, field marshal, ticket attendant, and press box helper. The tournaments show the true strength of the Milwaukee Kickers. It takes all staff members and a team of volunteers for tournaments to run smoothly and efficiently. I learned that clear and constant communication between all the departments was key to a successful event.
I encourage anyone who wants to work in the sport industry to give this internship consideration. I can’t say enough good things about the staff and Milwaukee Kickers organization. Everyone is very welcoming and friendly. Staff members also have lots of experience and knowledge that they are willing to share.
Thank you for giving me the chance to be a part of such a great organization and I wish all the best to the Kickers in the future!
