Two months with an organization like the Milwaukee Kickers Soccer Club certainly offers some valuable contributions to a resume, but it’s the experience of the positive and collaborative work of the Kickers staff that makes for a great all-around internship.
The work that started back in June has reached its conclusion, and along the path came a number of unique adventures and experiences. From the first event to the last, all four of the MKSC Summer Interns were given the chance to observe and contribute to the Milwaukee Kickers Team.
Having staffed special events and assisted in some of the strategy that goes into this special not-for-profit organization, it is clear that members are fully taken care of by individuals with a shared passion for the game of soccer. That passion is seen throughout the club's staff, members, sponsors and volunteers.
A summer well-spent is perhaps the best way to evaluate the experience I gained as an intern. My skill set is more advanced, I participated in community outreach events as part of MKSC's "Kickers In Our Community" initiative (as a bonus, I took first place in the run portion of the 2016 Wisconsin Humane Society's "Tails on The Trail" fundraising run/walk) and my passion for soccer has been reignited as a result of my time with the club.
Any future success I find in business or marketing, as well as any future soccer endeavors, can in some way be traced back to my experience as a team member of one of the most respected youth soccer organizations in the country.
