This summer I had the privilege of being a Milwaukee Kickers Soccer Club Intern. In my time with the Kickers, I not only learned a lot about the club and all of the amazing people who work there, but I also learned a lot about myself.
My internship was labeled as a Social Media/Special Events Internship, but I was able to gain experience working in many different fields. From working MKSC’s annual Kicknic to representing MKSC at multiple community outreach events, I learned what it truly means to “Follow the Leader.”
Each and every member of the MKSC staff leads by example. While they all have their individual roles, everyone is more than willing to help each other out when needed, which has helped me learn the importance of being flexible and able to think on my feet during tournaments and events.
There is a big focus on giving back to and supporting the Milwaukee community. I got the chance to be a part of the America SCORES Milwaukee staff and experienced first-hand the positive impact the program had on the kids. Getting to help with community outreach was one of my favorite parts of this internship, and it really opened my eyes to the fact that MKSC is much more than a soccer club.
It was a real pleasure being able to be a part of the MKSC team this summer. I really enjoyed learning more about the club and everything that goes into promoting, supporting and sustaining it. This internship has helped me learn a lot about who I want to be and has steered me in the direction I want to go with my future. I hope I was able to help the club a fraction of the way it helped me. Thank you MKSC for an amazing summer!
