Allison Peters - My MKSC Internship Experience

by Allison Peters | May 16, 2016

Over the course of the past three months, I had the opportunity to work as an intern at Uihlein Soccer Park with the Milwaukee Kickers Soccer Club. I was involved with a wide range of experiences both in the office, and through the various events and programs offered here. This internship gave me the opportunity to learn more about all the work that goes into planning and coordinating events and programs at a sports facility. I am thankful that I had the chance to experience the great work environment here at Uihlein Soccer Park.

Throughout my time with the Milwaukee Kickers, I wrote several blog posts about soccer, coaching, and life in general. Putting in the time and effort for research allowed me to expand my knowledge on the writing topics I chose. I also tried to incorporate some of my own knowledge and experiences with coaching and what it takes to be a leader.

When tournament time rolled around, I was able to walk the grounds and interact with the parents and players. Throughout this time, I saw some of the great moments soccer has to offer. The younger kids just seemed to have such a love for playing the game with their teammates and friends. It’s their bright smiles and happiness that made my internship experience even more worthwhile.

This internship paved the way for me to have success in my future endeavors in the sports industry. It gave me the opportunity to further advance my knowledge of how a sports facility is run and everything that goes into planning a successful event. I was able to meet and build connections with the incredible people that work at Uihlein Soccer Park. They have all shared their knowledge with me and given me a deeper look into the various roles I may hold one day.

I am certainly appreciative of everything the club has done for me through this internship. It has provided me with a vast span of knowledge and experience that I know will benefit me down the road!
