The 2015 Pepsi Cup Tournament, hosted at Uihlein Soccer Park and sponsored by Milwaukee Kickers Soccer Club sponsor Pepsi, showcased the talent and teamwork of 91 local and regional teams October 2nd – 4th.
I asked some of the MKSC Academy Coaches about their tournament experience and the performance of their teams. Here is what a few of them had to say:
“Overall, the past weekend was very beneficial for the club. The games I was able to watch were very competitive. That is what you hope for in a tournament like this. My U15 and U16 Girls teams competed in some very hard games as well. We hope to continue playing quality teams in our MRL games this weekend.”
- MKSC Academy Coach Pete Knezic
“I coached a U12 Boys team that played in the top division. They had two tough games Saturday, but were able to put a good performance together on Sunday for a win. Overall, they enjoyed the tournament experience and ultimately improved from it. I also coached a U14 Boys team that finished with a 2-0-1 overall record. They eventually took first place and played good soccer in all of their games.”
- MKSC Academy Coach Michael King
“I was very happy with how the weekend turned out. The MKSC Academy U17 Girls finished first and the MKSC Academy U16 Girls finished second in a close game. The ball movement was very good for both of the teams, which was something we had been working on in practice. Overall, it was very good for us to play the quality teams that participated in this tournament.”
- MKSC Academy Coach Celo Fontana
Despite high winds and cool temperatures, players played on and parents cheered on resulting in a positive experience for all.
A list of tournament team trophy winners, those that placed first and second in their respective divisions, can be found here.
Congratulations to the winning teams and thanks to everyone who participated.
