The popularity and growth of youth soccer in America today can be partially credited to the lengthy history the sport has since its beginnings over two centuries ago.

During the 1800s colleges were the main places to watch a soccer event. That changed in the early 1900s with the formation of the American Soccer League (1921) and the U.S. participation in the first World Cup (1930). With the creation of the Women’s United Soccer Association in 2001 the sport gained even more acceptance. Today the sport is played by people of all ages.

Created in 1974 US Youth Soccer is the largest member of the United States Soccer Federation. The organization started with only 100,000 members, but now has grown to support three million. Since it began over 42 years ago, it has provided a fun and positive environment for all its youth. The league strives to create an enjoyable atmosphere by guaranteeing playing time and limiting the importance of winning.

US Youth Soccer is an educational organization whose goal is to promote the physical, mental and emotional development of America's youth. It is comprised of more than…

  • 600,000 volunteers and administrators
  • 300,000 dedicated coaches
  • 3,000,000 youth players between the ages of five and nineteen

At the local level the Milwaukee Kickers Soccer Club, a nonprofit organization and unifying force in the community that calls Uihlein Soccer Park home, serves over 6,000 youth members through recreational and select teams in 15 regions across Southeastern Wisconsin each year.
