The Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association (WYSA) will be hosting Abby Wambach, one of the world’s most famous soccer players, at Uihlein Soccer Park on Saturday, November 14th for a private meet and play session.

Wambach was born and raised in Rochester, New York. Being the youngest of seven children, she was exposed to athletics at a young age and taught to be competitive with her siblings.

As Wambach became more experienced, her soccer talent grew as did her recognition to include:

Youth soccer superstar

USA Today Nation’s Top 10 Recruits

Top college recruit in 1997, attended University of Florida on a full scholarship, winning NCAA championship her freshman year

Florida Gator’s all-time leading scorer (inducted into University of Florida Hall of Fame)

First round draft pick in WUSA by Washington Freedom

Became a member of U.S. National Team in 2001

Played in her first FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2003

Played in her first Olympics in 2004

Two-time Olympic Gold Medalist

2012 FIFA Women’s Player of the Year

2015 World Cup Champion

Five-time winner of the U.S. Soccer Athlete of the Year award
